About Me
Hello!
I'm Kelsey, the heart and soul behind Happy Days Animal Care. I've always felt a deep connection to animals and the natural world – land, sea, and everything in between. Animals, nature, and music have been the only constants in my life. They ground me, guide me, and give me purpose.
I grew up in rural Osage County, Oklahoma, surrounded by nature, curiosity, and the kind of quiet connection only animals can teach you. From a young age I knew I was meant to care for animals in the kind of way I wish every animal could experience. Having worked since I was 15, I've tried to figure out how I could
make a living doing just that without going the "conventional" route of being a vet or a "traditional" dog trainer – none of that really resonated with me, especially with the industry standards at the time. A few years after graduating high school I became certified in CAD Architectural Design with this dream in mind, hoping it could one day fund sanctuary land and I could design the safe haven I envisioned for all the lone and unwanted souls I witnessed without proper love and care.
Life happened and time marched on. Over the last 12 years, after graduating from the CAD program, I've climbed the ranks in a wide range of roles in a variety of customer service based industries – from working QA/QC in oil fields to managing restaurants, hotel offices, and physical therapy clinics. Through it all, my heart stayed with the animals. I've volunteered with Stillwater Humane Society and WildCare wildlife rehab, fostered kittens and dogs, rescued, adopted, and rehabbed my own little family of four, and have committed to learning everything I can about animal health, behavior, nutrition, and the human-animal bond. Fun tip: It's all about connection, consent, clarity, and confidence! Not corrections.
Today, I'm excited to be living my "someday" dream in a new way – offering trustworthy, thoughtful, heart-centered care through Happy Days. Whether I'm walking, sitting, hiking, or just spending quality time with your animals, I show up with patience, presence, and a calm energy that's earned – not forced. I believe in care that's honest, joyful, and tailored to each unique being that makes them thrive.
I'm currently a CATCH Academy dog training student, a Susan Garrett Recallers student, pet first aid & CPCR certified, and a member of Pet Sitters International as well as National Association of Professional Pet Sitters which hold me accountable to a certain level standards and code of ethics. I'm preparing for multiple certifications to test and enhance my knowledge, ensure I'm ready for any scenario I may face, and share with pet parents to enrich their lives. I'm continuously learning about and implementing species appropriate nutrition and enrichment activities, and watching the amazing impacts it has on my animals is everything to me.
When I'm not with other animals or fulfilling continued education, I'm happiest at home with my husband and our crew, watching classic TV shows and Harry Potter movies, or soaking up time outdoors near water and wildflowers. I greatly enjoy just sitting and observing nature's beauty. I'm a passionate rescue advocate and steward of the land, its inhabitant's well-being and livelihood are always top of mind. I have a special affinity for Staffy/Pit mixes, black cats, bees, birds, opossums, and octopi. 🥰
I'm grateful every day to do work that brings peace and happiness – not just to me, but to your animals, and to you.
